Biometric Age

How Pulsyn estimates Biometric Age, the 13 features behind it, and the calibration windows to trust it.

Biometric Age compares your chronological age with an estimate of your biological age based on the signals Rune 1 captures. A negative gap means your estimated biological age is lower than your chronological age. A positive gap means it is higher.

The 13-feature model

The estimate is built from 13 biometric features:

  1. HRV
  2. Resting heart rate
  3. Sleep Score
  4. Readiness Score
  5. VO2max estimate
  6. Activity Score
  7. SpO2
  8. Skin temperature deviation
  9. Stress Score
  10. Body Battery
  11. Respiratory rate
  12. Chronological age
  13. Sex

The model weighs each feature according to its contribution to the final age gap. The strongest drivers include HRV, resting heart rate, sleep quality, readiness, and VO2max.

Calibration windows

Biometric Age needs time to become reliable:

  • Minimum calibration: 7 days of wear
  • Full accuracy: 90 days of wear

Until the 7-day minimum is reached, the estimate is marked as low confidence and should be treated as a rough directional signal.

How it is produced

The model runs entirely on the device. It converts each feature into a z-score relative to population norms, combines them with learned weights, and produces a biological age estimate and age delta.

Interpreting the gap

  • A small gap either way is normal.
  • Sustained negative trends can follow consistent sleep, recovery, and activity habits.
  • Sustained positive trends can follow illness, overreaching, or poor recovery.

Limitations

Biometric Age is a wellness insight, not a medical assessment. It does not measure disease risk or biological ageing at a cellular level.
