Onboarding walkthrough

The first time you open the Pulsyn app, you will work through a 12-screen onboarding flow. All 12 screens work without a Pulsyn account or Supabase session. You can set up the app and start using the ring immediately.

The 12-screen sequence

1. Value Prop: A short overview of what Rune 1 does and the privacy-first design.
2. Permissions Priming: The app explains why it needs access to health data, Bluetooth, and notifications. You grant permissions in the next system prompts.
3. Ring Scan: BLE discovery starts. The app scans for nearby rings and lists your Rune 1. Tap it to connect.
4. Pairing Success: Confirmation that the ring is paired and ready.
5. Health Personalization: Enter age, sex, height, weight, and activity level. These inputs improve score personalization and are stored on-device.
6. Navbar Setup: Choose your default home tab. This is the first screen you see when you open the app.
7. Profile Setup: Set your display name and choose an avatar. North and the app use this to address you.
8. Goals: Set your initial health and activity goals. You can refine these later.
9. Units: Choose metric or imperial for weight, distance, and temperature.
10. Notification Prefs: Select which wellness alerts and coaching updates you want.
11. Biometric Lock: Enable Face ID, fingerprint, or system lock to secure the app. We recommend this if your phone contains sensitive wellness data.
12. Celebration: A brief completion screen. From here you land in the app and the first sync begins.

What comes after onboarding

Once the celebration screen finishes, the app starts downloading data from the ring. Read First sync — what to expect for a full timeline of what happens in the first minutes and hours.

If you skipped biometric lock during setup, you can enable it later in Settings > Security. If you want to change units, goals, or your default tab after onboarding, see Setting up your profile and goals and Units and display preferences.
