First sync: what to expect

What happens during and after your first data sync, from the ring to the Pulsyn app.

Last updated: July 13, 2026

After pairing and onboarding, the Pulsyn app performs its first sync with Rune 1. This transfers stored sensor data from the ring to your phone over BLE.

During the first sync

  • The app connects to the ring and requests any stored history packets.
  • Data streams over Bluetooth 5.2 BLE. A full ring buffer may take a few minutes; most first syncs finish within one to two minutes.
  • Keep the app open and the ring near your phone until the progress indicator completes.
  • The ring battery may drop slightly during a large transfer because BLE is active.

What you will see first

  • Steps and activity from today, if the ring has been worn.
  • Heart rate, HRV, and SpO₂ samples from the most recent readings.
  • Sleep data only after the ring has recorded a full night on your finger. The first sync will not show sleep stages if the ring was just paired.
  • Trends and scores appear as the app builds a baseline from your personal data. Most scores need at least a few days of history before they are meaningful.

The first few days

Scores like Readiness, Sleep Score, and Body Battery become more reliable as the app learns your baseline. North, the on-device AI agent, also improves its coaching as it observes more of your daily patterns. This learning happens on your phone. You do not need a cloud account or internet connection.

If the sync seems stuck

  • Check that the ring is charged and on your finger.
  • Confirm Bluetooth is enabled and the app has the necessary permissions.
  • Pull down on the main screen to trigger a manual refresh.
