Journal and privacy
How the Pulsyn Journal keeps your notes on-device and separate from cloud sync.
Last updated: July 13, 2026
The Journal is a private space inside the Pulsyn app for notes, reflection, and context. Its privacy model is stricter than the rest of your health data. It never leaves your phone, even if you subscribe to Pulsyn Pro and enable cloud sync.
On-device only
Journal entries are stored locally on your phone. They are not uploaded to the cloud, not synced across devices, and not included in cloud backups. If you switch phones or uninstall the app without a local backup, your journal entries will not transfer.
Available to North, but only locally
North can read your journal entries to improve coaching context. A note about a late coffee might appear alongside a sleep insight the next morning. This correlation happens entirely on your device. No journal text is sent to Pulsyn servers.
How to manage or delete journal data
You can delete individual entries in the Journal, move them to trash for later recovery, or remove all on-device app data through Settings > Data > Delete local data. Because there is no cloud copy, deleting the local data permanently removes the journal.
