North and your privacy

How North, the Pulsyn AI agent, handles your data on-device and in the cloud.

Last updated: July 13, 2026

North gives you useful health coaching without asking for unnecessary trust. By default, every North conversation, memory, and insight stays on your phone.

On-device is the default

For free users and Pro users who keep the on-device setting:

  • The AI model runs locally on your phone.
  • Your questions and North's answers do not leave the device.
  • Memory and trends are computed from data already stored on your phone.
  • Voice playback, if enabled, happens entirely on-device.

Pro cloud tier is optional

Pulsyn Pro subscribers can enable the cloud tier for deeper reasoning and a longer memory window. When cloud AI is used, the relevant context is sent to our US inference provider, Fireworks.ai, to generate your answer and is not retained.

Cloud sync is a separate opt-in. If you also enable cloud sync, your encrypted history is stored on EU servers in Frankfurt. You can switch back to on-device processing at any time.

What North never does

North does not:

  • send your data to train AI models
  • share your biometric information with third parties
  • require an internet connection for core features
  • store journal text on Pulsyn servers
