What North can help with
Practical examples of questions and tasks North can handle, from sleep to recovery to experiments.

North is built around the data Rune 1 collects. You can ask about a single metric, request a comparison, or get a recommendation for the day ahead. Everything is wellness guidance, not a diagnosis.
Sleep quality and hypnogram analysis
North reads your nightly hypnogram and sleep score to explain what happened. Try prompts like:
- "How was my sleep last night?"
- "Why did I get less deep sleep than usual?"
- "What time did I fall asleep and wake up?"
North can connect sleep quality to strain, caffeine timing, or temperature trends from previous days.
Recovery and Body Battery
North interprets your readiness and Body Battery scores, plus the 8-hour forecast curve. Useful prompts:
- "How recovered am I today?"
- "When will my Body Battery peak?"
- "Should I train hard or take it easy?"
North can suggest a lighter day when recovery is low, or flag a window where you are likely to feel most energetic.
Strain and ACWR tracking
Strain measures how much load you accumulated relative to your recent baseline. North can explain your Acute:Chronic Workload Ratio and help you avoid sudden spikes. Try:
- "What is my strain this week?"
- "Am I ramping training too fast?"
- "How should I balance load and recovery?"
Fitness and biological age
North can put your Cardio Fitness estimate into context using percentile bands, and explain your biological age wellness estimate as a directional signal of how your metrics cluster. Example prompts:
- "What is my VO2max estimate?"
- "How does my cardio fitness compare for my age and sex?"
- "Why did my biological age estimate change?"
These are wellness estimates, not medical diagnostics or clinical assessments.
Jet-lag and illness early signals
North watches for deviations in resting heart rate, HRV, and skin temperature that sometimes appear before you feel symptoms. It can say things like:
- "Your resting HR is elevated and your temperature is above baseline. This can happen when your body is under extra strain."
- "These patterns look similar to past travel recovery. Want a plan?"
This is pattern detection, not diagnosis. If you feel unwell, consult a healthcare professional.
Focus windows and caffeine cutoffs
North can recommend the best window for demanding work and suggest a caffeine cutoff time based on your sleep schedule and sensitivity. Ask:
- "When is my peak focus window today?"
- "What time should I stop caffeine?"
- "How will my afternoon coffee affect tonight's sleep?"
HRV and skin-temperature trends
North tracks HRV over time and can explain what a rising, falling, or flat trend might mean for your recovery. It can also flag skin-temperature anomalies and place them in context with the rest of your data.
N-of-1 experiments and correlations
North includes an N-of-1 experiments engine. You can define a simple intervention (for example, a magnesium supplement, a fixed bedtime, or no screens after 9 PM) and North will help you track how it relates to a chosen outcome, such as deep sleep or next-day readiness.
The correlation engine looks across your lifestyle inputs and health outcomes to surface relationships in your own data. North will not claim a supplement or habit caused a change. It will say what patterns appear together and how strong the association looks in your personal history.
Good experiment questions:
- "Help me test whether a 10-minute walk after dinner improves my sleep."
- "Does my deep sleep correlate with how late I eat?"
- "What lifestyle factors relate most to my readiness score?"
