Understanding the date/time sync warning

Why setting the date and time on Rune 1 clears un-streamed history, and how to keep your data safe.

Last updated: July 13, 2026

When the Pulsyn app sends a date and time sync command to Rune 1, the ring resets its internal clock and clears any history packets that have not yet been streamed to your phone. This is normal. The ring needs the correct timestamp for every new data packet it records. Packets that were recorded with the old clock reference cannot be safely merged after the clock changes, so the ring clears them.

What is preserved and what is not

  • Preserved: anything already synced into the Pulsyn app's local database on your phone.
  • Cleared: ring-side history packets that had not yet been streamed at the moment the sync happened.

The command runs internally during certain sync and setup operations. You do not run it yourself. It can run as part of setup flows or firmware-related sync steps.

How to avoid losing un-streamed data

The easiest way to protect your data is to keep your ring connected and synced regularly. When history is streamed to your phone often, very little remains on the ring at any given moment. A date/time sync then has almost nothing to clear.

Good habits:

  • Open the app once a day so overnight packets can finish streaming.
  • Leave Bluetooth enabled and allow the app to run in the background.
  • Sync before initiating any action that refreshes the ring connection, such as re-pairing or some firmware steps.

This keeps the ring's timeline accurate. With regular syncing, the impact is effectively zero.
