Water resistance and ring care
How the 5ATM / 50m water resistance rating applies to daily life, plus cleaning and care tips for Rune 1.
Last updated: July 13, 2026
Rune 1 is rated to 5ATM / 50 meters of water resistance. That rating means it is designed to handle the water pressures you encounter in normal daily life: showers, rain, hand washing, and swimming at the surface.
What 5ATM means in practice
- Fine: showering, bathing, swimming in a pool, light rain, hand washing.
- Avoid: scuba diving, high-pressure jets, hot tubs and saunas for long periods, and waterskiing or jet-skiing where the ring could be hit hard.
The rating is tested under controlled conditions. Real-world chemicals like chlorine, salt, sunscreen, and soaps can degrade seals over time. Rinse the ring after swimming or heavy sweating to protect the finish.
Daily care
- Rinse the ring and case with fresh water after exposure to chlorine, salt water, or sweat.
- Dry the ring before placing it in the charging case.
- Avoid abrasive cleaners or scrubbing pads. A soft cloth is enough for the polished surface.
- Do not drop the ring onto hard surfaces. The internal electronics can be sensitive to impact.
Water resistance is not permanent
Seals and adhesives can degrade over years of use, impacts, or chemical exposure. If the ring takes a hard hit or the finish looks damaged, contact support to evaluate whether a replacement is needed.
